School of Information Technology

OVERVIEW

The School of Information Technology is the school for students who possess an interest in computers, from programming to the effective use of applications. The School of Information Technology includes career pathways in Web Design, Advanced Programming, Computer Systems, and Health IT. These pathway options are attractive to students who enjoy critical thinking and using problem solving to develop and manipulate computer applications, programs, and software. Students in this school should expect to pursue career in either field, as well as pursue post-secondary education at technical schools, community colleges, and/or universities throughout Georgia.

 

To complete a pathway in the School of Information Technology students must take three elective courses beyond the core requirements specified for graduation. The courses must be in one of the following identified majors.

 

 

MAJORS

The School of Information Technology offers four innovative majors. Students can choose from the following majors:

  • Web & Digital Communication

  • Health IT

  • Computer Systems

  • Advanced Programming

 

 

STUDENT OPPORTUNITIES

Students will be encouraged to become active members of national student CTAE organizations such as, Technical Students Association (TSA) and/or SkillsUSA. These organizations will provide students with the opportunities to further develop their leadership, creativity, and technical design skills.
